shaneBecome a Community Ambassador

At OCL, we need everyone who believes in the mission and services of OCL to be our Community Ambassadors, sharing what you know and value about OCL with family, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances. Everyone who supports the mission of OCL to serve individuals with developmental disabilities can be a Community Ambassador.

It starts with feeling good about sharing the story of OCL’s self-directed services that focus on a person’s abilities, not disabilities, on what they want in their life, not on set programs. Ambassadors are asked to actively seek “friends” for OCL, celebrate OCL’s successes, lead people to OCL’s website, www.oclinc.org and share OCL’s facebook posts. As an OCL Community Ambassador, you can also share your thoughts on community needs and how OCL addresses those needs.

OCL’s staff, current Board of Directors and administrators work hard to be true to our mission: To empower and individually support people with developmental disabilities to live full lives as integral respected members of their community. OCL is recognized internationally for its innovative pioneering services but we still need to be better at sharing our story at home.

That’s why we need you and others to be Community Ambassadors, to accept the challenge and share OCL’s story. Let us know you’re interested by ‘liking’, commenting and sharing OCL Facebook posts with others.

How Donations to OCL Benefit the People We Serve

Your donations to OCL are greatly appreciated and used wisely!

Often the individuals we support have their basic needs met through their individual budgets. But what happens when the individuals we support need assistance with things that their budgets won’t allow?

In 2014 we assisted individuals we support to get dental work done, purchase a bed rail, pay a deposit to an apartment complex, emergency vet expenses and for unplanned travel expenses, due to an unexpected medical condition. We couldn’t have done this without financial support from you and others in our community!

With your generosity we can continue to help individuals with developmental disabilities with getting meaningful things that they need to enjoy life in addition to meeting their basic needs of food, clothing and shelter.

Working together we can make a difference in our Central New York community!
